In order to strengthen the management of international students and to standardize the procedure for students to ask for a leave, the regulations on students’ leave for international students of International Education School is formulated according to the Regulations on Attendance for International Students in CAU and the reality of our school.
Students shall register, attend classes, and participate in various teaching activities on time. In case of sickness and personal affairs, students shall go through the procedures for leave. Otherwise, they will be treated as absenteeism.
1. Regulations for Leave
(1) Sick leave. Students who cannot attend classes on time or participate in collective activities due to physical discomfort and other reasons need to provide relevant hospital records when asking for leave.
(2) Personal leave. Students can be approved, with discretion, of a personal leave with sufficient reasons.
(3) Official leave. It refers to the leave that after confirmation, students indeed cannot attend classes on time due to major events, personal competitions, certificate examinations and so forth.
2. Permission for Leave
(1) Students who ask for leave for less than three days need to apply to the class teacher, and fill in the leave form.
(2) Students who ask for leave for less than one week shall be approved by the Director of International Student Affairs Office.
(3) Students who ask for leave for more than one week (no more than two weeks) shall be approved by the Dean of IES in charge.
3. Procedures for Leave
(1) Students who ask for leave should go through the procedures for leave by themselves. Otherwise, in case of emergencies, students should contact, by telephone, etc., the class advisor to ask for the permission to let the monitor go through the procedures on their behalf. Those who have not gone through the procedures in advance will not be granted a leave form afterwards.
(2) Students who can attend classes on time after granted leave period should inform the monitor in time, and report back to the class advisor.
(3) Students who cannot attend classes or participate in activities for some reason after granted leave period should go through the procedures in time to extend the leave. Otherwise, they will be treated as absenteeism, and be punished in accordance with the regulations.
4. Relevant Instructions
(1) Students who are absent for over 1/3 period of a semester due to sickness and personal affairs will be asked to suspend the schooling by the Office of Academic Affairs informed by the College Office, and shall not participate in the assessment of the semester.
(2) If a student takes a leave by deception, he / she shall be disqualified from the examination and shall be held accountable for his / her responsibility.
(3) Students who have not asked for leave, who are not allowed to take a leave, or who leave school without asking to extend the leave when it is overdue, will be treated as absenteeism. All the consequences arising from the absence from school shall be borne by the students.
(4) Student's attendance is included into the award evaluation criteria. Students who are absent without reasons for over 6 periods will be disqualified from awards of the academic year.
(5) The class advisor is in charge of the collection and the regular report to IES office of students’ attendance with reference to each teacher's records of students’ attendance.
